David Rutley, the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Macclesfield, visited the Macclesfield and District Talking Newspaper for the Blind as part of his fact finding mission to learn all he can about what makes Macclesfield tick. Mr Rutley, who was selected as Sir Nicholas Winterton`s replacement in October 2009, said he was amazed by the number of people involved and impressed with the enthusiasm and commitment of the volunteers.

He gave the TN an exclusive interview for its visually impaired listeners, in which he talked about his love of the Peak District and outdoor pursuits in general. Mr Rutley is a keen mountaineer who has climbed in mountain ranges throughout the world.

Mr Rutley and his wife also took the opportunity to meet the staff of Macclesfield Eye Society during his visit.
